How to run a productive & happy COVID-19 daily huddle

With the devastating Covid-19 causing Chaos and the “WFH advice flying around”. We’re not seeing a lot of practical advice from a leadership point of view that continues running the business but also keeping a check on everyone’s mental health, which should be a priority for every business right now because we don’t know how long this will go on for.

Below is the AGENDA that has been huge for keeping our team productive and happy:

  • MY ONE INTENTION TODAY IS TO ACHIEVE?

This drives focus for the day at a time when most people feel a bit scattered – NEVER underestimate the power of prioritisation. It also helps give certainty and control back to team members who may be more anxious than usual about their positions.

  • TODAY I’D LIKE TO HAVE A VIRTUAL LUNCH OR MEET WITH WHO? 

This helps your team stay connected, and if there’s something they’d like to discuss they can, and as leader you can ensure no one is eating alone at home every single day.

  • ONE THING I AM GRATEFUL FOR THIS MORNING?

The power of gratitude is well documented, and I believe now MORE THAN EVER this is something everyone needs to be focusing every day. We’ve heard everything from “my new socks” to “my cat” to serious things like “still having a job when my friends don’t”.

  • OUT OF 10 MY GENERAL MOOD IS A?

We’ve found since adding the “Gratitude” question, the mood rating has gone up 2 points on average for everyone. A couple low ratings in a row is a great way to know who as the leader you should follow up personally with.

Keep in mind – we meet everyday anyways via Zoom but this is a special “COVID” Agenda. It can be set up in 20 minutes and we use bot technology to automatically prompt us each day to answer questions. Since implementing this we’ve even had several team members actually say “thank you” personally and it works across cultures (2/3 of our company operates from in India).
